The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On is the latest in a string of Netflix reality TV dating shows to premiere a new season. But it’s not one that’s meant to help people find their perfect partner. Instead, it’s one that’s meant to help people figure out if they already have the perfect partner—and if they can keep them. To do that, the show focuses on couples in which one partner is ready to get married, but the other one isn’t ready for that commitment yet.
Enter drama. How? Easy, the show has the couples break up and proceed to date other people—chosen from the other couples also in the experiment—until they are ultimately matched up for a “trial marriage” for three weeks. After those three weeks, everyone goes back to their official partner for an additional three weeks, so they can compare the experience. Then, it’s decision time. Will the couples get married, break up, or do they want to try dating the person from their “trial marriage”?

If the show sounds even more dramatic than Love is Blind and Too Hot to Handle, it’s because, at times, it is. Season 3 has proven to be right up there in the drama department, with the first four episodes released on Netflix giving us two couples who already decided the competition wasn’t for them: Chanel and Micah and Vanessa and Dave.

The answer to the question seems to be yes, though we don’t know for sure and likely won’t have a clear answer until the show’s reunion episode airs. Even though the two left the show early, all contestants who featured in the season are invited to the reunion and Netflix surely wants confirmation to wait until that moment. However, we can make an educated guess based on a few things. First, there’s the fact that they left the experiment together, seemingly deciding they didn’t want to date other people—it just wasn’t for them.
There’s also the fact that Vanessa responded to a fan question about this very topic, saying, “I know I just had to do what was best for my mental health,” and added, “You’re only seeing 1%.”

And to someone else who suggested she owed Nick—who she was paired with for her trial marriage—an apology, she said, “You don’t know what happened behind the scenes. I have nothing to apologize for.”
“I will likely talk more about it at some point soon but there is only so much I can say,” Vanessa also told fans on Instagram, adding. “I’ll add more context after the reunion.”
The two haven’t shared Instagram photos together recently, but they have shared photos from the same place—like Italy, in April and May, and still seem to be co-parenting their dog. Plus, there’s also the fact that fans noticed a comment from Vanessa on Dave’s Instagram profile he has for his Jeep, which was kinda flirty and it all points to the two of them probably being together. We won’t know for sure until the reunion, but it’s safe to assume the answer is yes.
