When news of Jay-Z’s involvement in Diddy‘s sex crimes case broke, one of his family members reacted to the news and fans didn’t miss a beat. His wife Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles is well aware of the news.
Over the weekend, Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, was accused of raping a 13-year-old Jane Doe after he went to a VMAS afterparty hosted by Diddy in 2000. Tony Buzzbee, who is representing hundreds of Diddy’s victims, named the Roc Nation founder as a defendant in the case on December 8, 2024. Jay-Z responded quickly to the lawsuit and even brought his family in his statement. However, fans saw that his mother-in-law had discovered the news.
How did Beyoncé’s mom respond to Jay-Z’s allegations?
Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles liked an Instagram post from ABC7 Chicago breaking the news about the case. “Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs are accused of raping a then-13-year-old girl at an afterparty following the 2000 Video Music Awards, according to an amended civil lawsuit filed Sunday. In a lawsuit filed in a New York federal court, it claims that Jane Doe was dropped off by a friend at New York’s Radio City Music Hall to try to attend the MTV Video Music Awards around September 7, 2000. The plaintiff approached limousine drivers in an attempt to sneak in to the after party and struck a conversation with one who claimed he worked for Diddy. According to the lawsuit, the driver allegedly told her that Diddy “liked younger girls and said she ‘fit what Diddy was looking for.’” The driver took her to the white house and took a drink where she suddenly did not feel well.
Jay-Z took to his social media to deny the allegations. “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?” Carter said in a statement. “These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
“My only heartbreak is for my family,” he wrote. “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.”
Tina recently gushed about her daughter’s accomplishment of being the No. 1 Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century. “I think she’s very deserving of it,” she told E! “She’s had 25 years of just being able to stay current and stay on top. That’s not an easy feat, and I think she’s had such an impact on culture. She’s changed culture over and over and over.”
She added, “So it’s not just about record sales, it’s about having that longevity. And being a true artist and giving that heart and soul to what she’s doing.”
