Here’s Some New Makeup and Beauty I’m Not Buying

One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to be more thoughtful about what beauty and makeup purchases I make in 2025. I think I spent a good deal of 2024 already doing that and I want to continue on that path in the New Year. As I get older I feel like I have TOO much of everything and my goal is to downsize what I do have. Marie Kondo is right if it doesn’t bring you joy get rid of it!

Here’s a few new releases in the makeup and beauty world I’m not buying! See if you agree!

I’m one of the few people (or it feels that way) that really likes Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Palettes. Apparently, the new Icy Nude Eyeshadow Palette is her last ever big palette. She went on social media recently to say there would be no more like this going forward. If that’s true remains to be scene but even as her last every palette I can’t see myself indulging in this. A few years ago, I’d have jumped at buying it but now I realize I’d rarely use these shades. I would consider buying it if there was some MAJOR deal on it (say $20 bucks) but at the current price I can safely skip it without feeling I missed out.

Another safe skip in the eye palette world is Mini Eye Sculpt Eyeshadow Palette from Natasha Denona. This is hands down one of the most boring palettes of the New Year. I mean, sure, it would make a really nice travel palette but these shades are just so uneventful especially with Spring looks on the horizon. Not to mention I always struggle using an entire pan of black powder eyeshadow! I can safely say even when this goes on sale I can skip it.

Tree Hut has launched a few new scrubs for Spring 2025 and as much as I love a Tree Hut Body Scrub moment I’m not into the whole Spring Break theme they have with these. There are new tropical scents like Electric Beach and Golden Sands.

I love Tatcha, truly I do. I think their Dewy Cream is amazing. However, their eye cream isn’t really my go to. The new Tatcha The Brightening Eye Cream with Vitamin-C for Dark Circles seems interesting enough but there eye creams almost disappoint in the moisture department. It’s also a whipped formula which might be the same as the The Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream and I hated that formula. I felt like it never absorbed and I was chasing it around my eye to get it patted in. No thanks!
