It’s 2024—and if you aren’t on-board with the rising cowgirl trend, it’s time to convert. With the recent and upcoming releases of country pop albums (Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter, Kacey Musgraves’ Deeper Well, Lana Del Rey’s album that doesn’t have a name yet), it’s not a bad move to add some on-theme items into your wardrobe, especially since it seems major fashion trends are definitely influenced by the fans and artists at stadium and arena tours.

Cowboy aesthetics have been on the rise for some time now, with stars like Kacey Musgraves and Lil Nas X bringing them into the pop genre in recent years, so it makes sense that as country pop finds solid ground in the mainstream, houses like Louis Vuitton, Isabel Marant, and Molly Goddard show country western as well.

Naturally, I had to get with the program. I’ve been testing these leather cowboy boots from Tecovas, and they’re incredible.

I selected a size down (as suggested by the brand), and although they fit really well, I’ll say there is an initial break-in period. I was walking to my coffee plans when I first put them on, and there was some chafing. I still would recommend sizing down; they’re boots after all, and breaking your shoes in is a normal part of the process.

The quality of the leather is amazing. Also, the beauty is all in the detailing; the pair I got is navy blue and cream with rainbow stitches that you’ll definitely admire up close. While the boots are still new to my collection, I’m really intrigued to see how the leather wears overtime. It’s worth mentioning that when I first wore them, the bottoms were a bit slippery, so you need to hit the pavement to really let them get scratched up. Also, if you have wider calves, you may want to try these on before fully committing and hitting the streets.

I live in New York, and my style admittedly isn’t super cowgirl, but I did wear them with a knit skirt, a sweater, a balaclava, and my Loewe clout goggles, and I feel like the boots work really seamlessly into a city wardrobe.

If my color selection isn’t necessarily your style, the boots come in a variety of additional color ways, like red, black, brown and turquoise. The brand also has countless other cowgirl boots options to peruse.
