It was the biggest twist of the season and Love Is Blind fans were afraid that we were going to get another Trevor situation for season 7. Stephen admitted to Monica that he cheated on her after she found incriminating texts on his phone.
Stephen, an electrician, proposed to Monica, a sales executive in The Pods. “I’ve been waiting 36 years to find you,” Monica tells him, accepting the proposal. “You’re the kindest, nerdiest, chattiest, most loving, compassionate, caring, and sweetest man.”

Things were going very smoothly with the couple taking things slow in Cabo, but Stephen was yapping her ear off. But when Monica discovered that Stephen was cheating on her, she told fellow contestant Taylor that she didn’t believe about his whereabouts. “Did he do a sleep test? I don’t know. He didn’t sleep here. It’s really unbelievable,” she said while also calling his actions “evil.”
Who did Stephen cheat on Monica with?
Stephen cheated on Monica with a girl that he was texting before his time on the show. “I did something completely stupid while being drunk at a sleep test with somebody who texted me,” he told his fiancé at the time.
“You were doing it today, Stephen. And the really gross ones too.” When Monica asked to see the text messages, Stephen admitted that he deleted them because he didn’t want to be reminded of them.
Monica confronted him about the “disgusting messages” about “kink stuff.” He replied, “I know it was a stupid decision and it was coupled with the conversation that we had had last night,” referring to the conversation about their sex life the night before. She fired back immediately, “Don’t you f—g blame me at all for you being gross.”
“I’m not blaming you. I’m blaming my actions on myself based on how I took our conversation. I’m taking full responsibility for this, which is why I’m getting my stuff and I’m leaving you alone,” he replied. Monica later demanded him to Venmo her for “carrying your weight the last couple days.” He complied and she confessed, “I’m almost embarrassed about how much of my heart I’ve given you. You were going to, what, shake my dad’s hand this weekend while you were planning on cheating? I don’t understand. You were laying in a sleep test bed texting a girl while you are engaged that you want to do dirty things. It was disgusting.”
“You’re right, I can’t do anything to change this. I will live with this. I truly am sorry for hurting you, for wasting your time, for coming on the show and doing this to you. I shouldn’t have come on the show,” he said.
“What a selfish thing to say. What a selfish piece of s—t. You f—g put a ring on my finger and now you shouldn’t have been on the show?” she replied.
“I definitely don’t deserve much. I am sorry. I will leave you alone now,” he stuttered as he left the apartment.
Rumors swirled on TikTok that Stephen was actually talking to his ex-girlfriend and was on the dating apps weeks leading up to the show. He fact-checked the claim by saying that he hadn’t spoken to his ex in 3 years. “But my friends and family already knew that. Sorry to disappoint strangers overly invested in my past,” he wrote in an Instagram story.
Did Stephen cheat before?
Stephen did admit that he had cheated before while he was talking to Monica in The Pods. “Here’s what I believe: you like someone for their qualities, but you love someone for their flaws,” he said. “I will divulge something that I am not very proud of it all, but I wear this brand, and I think it’s very important to be honest about it. So we’re going to talk about cheating. I technically hold the title of being a cheater. I’ve been cheated on multiple times as well.” He also confessed that he was disappointed in his actions and that he’s been in therapy.
She replied, “We’re all human. I’m 36 years old, like, it’s not so black and white. The experiences that I’ve had to deal with from cheating are — they are really gross, and very, very bad. Even in those situations, I’ve always found a path to forgiveness.“
Where do Stephen and Monica stand now?
The two still follow each other on Instagram, and have posted photos of each other on their time on the Netflix show. Stephen wrote on his Instagram after the cheating episode premiered, “You know for a show based on context clues and meant to be about not judging a book by its cover. Its fans certainly like to take a LOT things at face value. These are all beautiful memories of mine that I would never trade for the world. Both on and off camera. Memories I will forever share with amazing people in an experience I never expected to be a part of.”
